The Reconciliation Commission, composed of Tarhuna, Misrata, Zawia, Tripoli and Zintan, confirm that a truce was reached to halt fighting in southern Tripoli on Friday, the third one in just 4 days.

The truce provided for the immediate cessation of fire and the entry of a neutral force to Tripoli, consisting of the forces of Western and Central military zones.

It was also agreed to conduct another meeting after about a week from now of the municipalities of Zawiya, Zintan, Tripoli, Misrata and Tarhuna to ease tensions between the conflicting groups and cement the process of reconciliation, according to a video statement released by the Reconciliation Commission.

Bouts of fighting continued in Tripoli despite previous ceasefire agreements that failed to translate into any concrete results.

Meanwhile, the 7th Brigade of Tarhuna rejected the truce and vowed to continue fighting until “it cleanses Tripoli of militias.”
