Club President of Mellieħa Athletic Club Ivan Cassar said that this race was a project that has been long in the pipeline for the club and that the organisers are very excited with the feedback that this event is generating.

“Valletta is a unique destination and this is the first time that our club will be exploiting the views and the real character of the city.  With this race we are reviving a traditional race “Round the bastions” which used to cover a 3k distance. We are also delighted to have found the support of Express Trailers, already sponsors of our Club, who have accepted to lend their name to this event and who have made it part of their annual Road Safety campaign,” said Ivan Cassar.

“Express Trailers has been supporting road sports particularly road running and cycling events for a number of years now spurred by the company’s commitment to promote road safety especially with regards to runners and cyclists who are amongst the most vulnerable on the road. It is our contribution to society for any inconvenience we may cause through our work,” added Franco Azzopardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers.

A 2km Fun Run will also be held.

Race applications can be submitted through are website www.melliehaac.info and more details can be found through our FB page https://d.facebook.com/mellieha.ac/ whilst the race number pickup will take place on Wednesday 17th at Eurosport B’Kara
