Hamas - AFPIsrael and Hamas have agreed to restore calm in the Gaza Strip, a spokesman for Hamas said on Saturday, after the Israel Defence Forces launched a massive attack on the Gaza Strip late Friday evening, following an exchange of fire between Israeli troops and Palestinians in Gaza which saw one Israeli soldier, four Palestinians death and over 120 injured.

 

 

EU BarnierThe EU’s chief Brexit negotiator has taken apart Theresa May‘s new Chequers Brexit plan, just hours after the embattled Prime Minister insisted there would be no further compromise on her side.

Newspaper Headlines MaltaNewspapers report that Bank of Valletta has lost an appeal against an Italian court’s decision to freeze €363 million in a precautionary warrant, the bank said yesterday. The claim was filed by liquidators of the Deiulemar group and representatives of 13,000 Italian bondholders who lost their life savings in a fraud scheme dating back to 2009. (The Times)

The Malta Independent reports that the bank, however, is considering bringing up possible fair hearing issues on the basis that almost a third of the small Italian town where the case is being heard are aggrieved bondholders.
