The 29th Hanse Sail maritime festival running from 08 to 11 August 2019. The Hanse maritime festival is one of the largest in Europe.

170 ships from 15 nations are signed up for the Hanse Sail 2019. Among the participating ships, five are celebrating their 100th birthday this year: the “Morgenster“, “Nobile”, “Fridtjof Nansen”, “Hanne Marie” and “Nordwind”.

Today, the Hanse Sail forms part of the joint Baltic Sail, which takes place in several countries bordering the Baltic Sea during July and August.

The sail training vessel “Mir” from St. Petersburg, whose name can be translated with “peace” or “world”, will be honoured in particular this year. The ship will be illuminated with colourful lights and accompanied by music composed by musician Ola van Sander from Rostock, on Saturday.
