According to media reports, a man was rushed to hospital after police reportedly shot him outside a train station in Sydney’s south-west.
Initial reports suggest the man allegedly threatened officers with a knife resulting in an altercation with police and suffering a single gunshot wound to his stomach area.
The shooting happened in broad daylight next to the busy train station as students from a nearby high school headed home.
A street next to the station was taped off by police and medical equipment was seen lying in the middle of the road.
NSW Police have launched a critical incident investigation, which will probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
NSW Transport said services were running as normal in and out of Campbelltown station and buses were not impacted.
