The French nuclear aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle leaves Toulon military harbour, southern France, 21 January 2020.

The aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle is being deployed to support the Chammal operations and French military in the Middle East.

The deployment come amid escalating tensions between Iran and the US after the killing of Iran’s military commander general Qasem Soleimani earlier this month. Soleimani was killed in US airstrike on 03 January, in Baghdad.
