Polls indicate La Lega to be top Italian party and second at the EP elections

Italian news agency ANSA reported that in the upcoming May European Parliament (EP)elections Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s far-right group La Lega will be the top party in Italy, according to opinion polls out Friday.

Polls also indicated that La Lega will be second in the EP with 28 seats behind Germany’s CSU/CDU with 34, the EP poll said.The League got just six seats in the last EP elections.

The anti-establishment Movimento 5 Stelle  (M5S) is down a seat from the last such poll on 21, compared to the 14 seats it got in 2014.
