Plane carrying Royal couple forced to abort landing in Sydney

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A plane carrying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been forced to make an aborted landing in Sydney because another plane was on the runway.

The Qantas aircraft flying from Tonga to Australia was on the approach into Sydney Airport when the pilot was forced to pull up – moments before the plane was meant to be coming into land.

Immediately after the aborted landing the pilot calmly told us on the tannoy that he had been forced to make a “missed approach” because there was another plane still on the runway.

He then joked that we would again have some great views of Sydney as we eventually landed on a second attempt.
