The Verge has an exclusive report revealing Microsoft’s new Chromium-powered Edge browser which could be the new default browser on Windows.
According to the Verge report, while the previously leaked screenshots made Edge look very similar to Chrome, Microsoft is adding its own touches and animations to make it look and feel like a Windows browser.
Chrome extension support, eventual compatibility on Mac, and even dark mode, although that feature is only in testing, are some of the features for the Windows browser. The Verge confirmed favorites syncing and other interface customization.
The first impression is good and you can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store. Some settings and options are still missing but development is ongoing and it is possible that these will be introduced in a future version.
