Two women died and seven were injured in a major traffic accident in Buqana, Mosta close to the roundabout which leads to Mgarr on Sunday night. The accident took place at around 9pm in an area where road works are taking place.
53 year old Graziella Mallia and her daughter 31 year old Fallon, from Zabbar were the victims.
It involved a Maruti and an Audi. Health Minister Chris Fearne said that Mater Dei Hospital has declared a major incident after two people died and seven were taken to hospital.
One of them is a young girl.
Yesterday the 14th of April 2019, at 2030hrs, the Police were informed that a traffic accident between two vehicles occured in Triq l-Imgarr, Imgarr.
Preliminary investigations by the District Police found that for unknown reasons an Audi A1 and a Maruti 800 collided. The driver of the maruti and a passenger, aged 53 and 31 years respectively were certified dead on site. A 77-year-old and a 12-year-old person were certified as suffering from serious injuries, a 44-year-old person suffered grievous injuries and a 29-year-old person suffered no injuries.
The driver of the Audi, a 31-year-old person together with an 11-year-old and a 1-year-old suffered grievious injuries whilst a 10-year-old person suffered slight injuries.
Members from the Civil Protection Department together with an Ambulance team called on site to assist all the injured persons.
Police investigations are still on-going and a Magisterial Inquiry was also appointed.

A Ferrari sports car ended up in the same ditch a few metres away on Saturday morning, The Times said.
