A leap of Fiat into e-mobility
Fiat unveiled its innovative electric car credentials at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show with the ultra-modular Fiat Concept Centoventi.
The iconic Italian carmaker says the model seeks to democratise the e-mobility segment with its ‘Affordable But Cool’ (ABC) approach.
Centoventi – Italian for ‘one hundred and twenty’ – is an important milestone in Fiat’s 120-year history, and the concept is expected to spearhead the legendary brand into its future. Fiat promises the Centoventi will be the market’s most affordable electric mobility solution and one of the few to provide an extended range, designed for out-of-town trips.
Inspired by Italian design, the Fiat Concept Centoventi embodies the “less is more” standard, providing more space for people, more care for the environment and the community, and more stylistic freedom.
The Fiat Concept Centoventi brings a game-changing standard to functional design, taking customisation to a whole new level. In fact, owners will be able to personalise the livery using the “4U” programme, with a choice of four roofs, four bumpers, four wheel covers and four external wrappings. The car can be constantly updated with new colours, interior configurations, roof configurations, infotainment system and even battery range.
Fiat says that more than a hundred specially-designed accessories – including the sound system, the dashboard and door storage compartments, and seat cushions – can also be purchased online and fitted by the owners themselves.
The innovative concept proposes a completely new business model for automotive accessories, enabling them to be resold or traded, nurturing a real community of brand fans or connoisseurs of Fiat’s Italian design, just as with collectors’ items.
Modular, roomy and totally reconfigurable, the Fiat Concept Centoventi interior boasts ingenious architecture, able to accommodate up to four people. Fiat designed the cockpit and the surrounding environment around people and today’s dynamic lifestyles. Seating design in another innovation, with a bare back structure made from eco-sustainable materials, while the cushions and head restraints can easily be replaced to change their colours and materials. The rear seats consist of a retractable bench and a back which rotates to dramatically increase load capacity.
Everything in the Fiat Concept Centoventi expresses the essence of the Fiat brand, particularly the retro-futuristic minimalist design and functions. The model uses the sector’s most innovative materials to blend style and sustainable awareness.
