img_2865In an official statement, the government of Malta said that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat pledged to participate in an Italian-led initiative to relocate a number of migrants who are part of 450 who were on board a fishing vessel.  In a phone call with Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, Muscat reiterated that consistent with its policy of not only advocating but also offering solidarity, Malta would assist in this case, which will disembark in Italy.

 

Trump PutinTwo days before a high-stakes summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump played golf and tweeted Saturday from one of his namesake resorts, blaming his predecessor for Russian election meddling and lashing out at the free press from foreign soil.

Newspaper Headlines MaltaThe Sunday Times reveal that the police drug squad has been called to investigate the discovery of more synthetic drugs in a ward at Mount Carmel Hospital. The drugs were found during a raid carried out by the hospital’s management on Friday evening following the hospitalisation of four patients from the same ward who had overdosed on synthetic drugs.

Former Magistrate Anthony Vella, who was recently promoted to Judge, together with one of the lead investigators in the investigation into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, has travelled to Germany to meet various authorities in connection with the slain journalist’s laptop, The Malta Independent on Sunday reports.

MaltaToday reports that a text message from someone claiming to be the second witness to have seen minister Chris Cardona inside a brothel in Germany, was intended at mis- leading the late journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
