Millions to mark Earth Hour today

Reading Time: 1 minute

Millions are set to show their commitment to the planet today by turning off their lights as they mark Earth Hour, an international event organised by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) to raise awareness of global warming.

Thousands of global landmarks as well as offices and households will plunge themselves into darkness in a symbolic call for more action on climate change for 60 minutes on Saturday night as they mark Earth Hour.

WWF’s Earth Hour campaign began as a symbolic lights out in Sydney 2007. Since then it has grown into the largest grassroots movement for the environment in the world. In 2018 a record-breaking 188 countries and around 17,900 landmarks turned their lights off for climate change.
