Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli on Tuesday donated blood plasma after saying that he had also contracted the novel coronavirus. The artist visited the Cisanello hospital in Pisa to donate his plasma for further studies.

His wife and two children were also infected. He told reports that he was generally asymptomatic, with just a slight fever being experienced. All his family members are now fine after recovering for the virus. Bocelli said he hoped his plasma would help find a treatment for the deadly virus.

The artist spent his lockdown trying to contribute to other people’s happiness through his music. On Easter Sunday, he delivered a solo performance at Milan’s Duomo. He also joined various musical marathons, including “One World Together”, which featured Elton John and Lady Gaga among others.

Bocelli was due to give three live performances this Summer around Italy, but like many other events, these were cancelled due to the onset of the pandemic.
