In December 2019 the average delay per flight on departure was 12.3 minutes per flight

According to Eurocontrol, in December 2019 the average delay per flight on departure was 12.3 minutes per flight. This was a decrease of 1.2 minutes per flight when compared to December 2018, where the average delay per flight was 13.5 minutes. Traffic for the month also slightly decreased, this by 0.3% compared to December 2018.

Eurocontrol, a pan-European, civil-military organisation dedicated to supporting European aviation, calculated that regarding arrivals, the average delay per flight on arrival was 11.4 minutes per flight, a decrease of 1.5 minutes per flight.

Arrival punctuality improved with 79.3% of flights arriving within the 15 minutes threshold, or earlier than the scheduled arrival time (STA), an increase of 2.8 when compared to December 2018.

French ATC industrial actions throughout December (04 – 13 and 16 -18 December) generated en-route as well as airport ATFM delay. While staffing shortages impacted operations in Lisbon, London, Karlsruhe, Langen, Madrid, Marseille, Brussels, Lisbon and Brest ACCs.

Low visibility and fog impacted operations at Amsterdam Schiphol, Lisbon , Oslo, Frankfurt , London Heathrow and Madrid airports and strong winds at London/Heathrow impacted operations.
