Cristiano Ronaldo defies gravity in his goal against Sampdoria

Cristiano Ronaldo scored on the stroke of half-time for Juventus on Wednesday night to register a 2-1 win away at Sampdoria to take the Italian champions three points clear in Serie A.

The Portuguese striker leapt to the back post to get on the end of left-back Alex Sandro’s cross, scoring a dazzling header which showed he still has his famed athleticism at the age of 34.

Ronaldo hadn’t scored for four Juventus games in a run of one goal in six games back in mid-November, a run that most wouldn’t worry about but is a proper drought for the superstar. Since then, Ronaldo scored against Sassuolo, Lazio and Bayern Leverkusen before bagging a brace against Udinese in a 3-1 win.

That took his tally to 11 goals in 19 Juventus games this season.

Yesterday’s win takes Juventus to 42 points, and above Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A.
