Corporate Dispatch Europe Explained – The Week Ahead
A quick glance at the main forthcoming events in the European Union including EU Council, Commission and Parliament meetings and other EU-related conferences and events. Events for the week of 22 September to 29 September.
Monday September 22
This week marks the beginning of the European Week of Sport. Led by the European Commission and co-organised by national coordinators and sport partners all over Europe, the event promotes an active lifestyle through a variety of celebrations and events. This year, the 5th European Week of Sport will be the biggest ever, with events supported by 47 partner associations in 41 countries.
Tuesday September 23
Meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy council. The Energy Council will focus on the contribution of the energy sector to climate action. Ministers will hold an exchange of views on the Commission communication on the draft national energy and climate plans.
Wednesday September 24
Start of the European Research and Innovation policy conference. The policy conference will bring together high-level policymakers, leaders from industry, finance, academia and the entrepreneurial community to debate and shape the future research and innovation landscape.
It will cover vital areas of science, engineering, medicine, and wider social and environmental concerns.
Thursday September 25
On Thursday morning (half-day meeting), Internal Market and Industry ministers will hold a policy debate (public session) on the long-term EU strategy for sustainable growth.
Friday September 26
A public debate on the strategy for sustainable growth will take place at the Competitiveness Council. Ministers will exchange views on possible synergies between Horizon Europe and other EU programmes. Over lunch, ministers will discuss the role of research and innovation in achieving climate targets.
