Brussels demands 2.1 million euros compensation for nuisance caused by air traffic

Reading Time: 1 minute

Céline Fremault, the Brussels Minister for Environment, has made a request for 2.14 million euros of penalty payments for the noise nuisance in Brussels in April because of the airport in Zaventem.

Brussels had already demanded 270,000 euros for the same reason in March but Fremault said the violations of the standards was almost ten times higher in April than in March.

The request is based on a court decision that banned any increase in the number of infringements against the 1999 Brussels noise decree between 23:00 and 7:00 am for flights taking off along certain routes.
