A Spanish commuter train derailed at around 07:00 near Barcelona, rail operator Adif has confirmed.
Euronews says that the derailment was caused by a landslide between the towns of Terrasa and Manresa. At least one person has died, according to the El Pais newspaper.
El Pais said “A train of Cercanías of the line R4 of Rodalies Catalunya has derailed to the first hour of the morning in Vacarisses ( Barcelona) because of a “landslide”, they have informed the company and the Mossos d’Esquadra in Twitter. At least one person has died and six others have been slightly injured in the incident, which has been recorded about 6.15, has detailed Civil Protection in the same social network. Some 150 people were traveling on the train, according to the firefighters.
