The Italian Antitrust Authority, after the initiation of a preliminary investigation procedure, has provisionally ordered the suspension of the new baggage policy by the low-cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air, which would come into force today.

This was announced by a note issued by the Italian Competition Authority.

“Ryanair and Wizz Air – it is written – will therefore have to temporarily suspend all activities aimed at requesting a surcharge – compared to the standard rate – for the transport of ‘large hand luggage’ (trolley), making available free of charge to consumers, on board or in the hold, an area equivalent to that set aside for the transport of hand luggage in the aircraft.

The companies will have to inform the Authority within 5 days of the measures taken in compliance with what has been decided “.
