Reuters report that eleven bodies were discovered on Friday in a Mexican town close to the U.S. border, days before president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is due to visit for a series of forums seeking to stem the violence in the country.

El Paso Times reports that prosecutors in Mexico’s northern Chihuahua state are investigating the killing of 11 people inside a home in Juarez, Mexico, across the border from El Paso, Texas. The state’s attorney’s office said in a statement Friday that the victims were eight men and three women.

Investigators were working to determine the victims’ identities and the motive in the killings, but speculated that it could be the result of a dispute between criminal groups.
