ANSA: A new situation is developing in the Mediterranean Sea in relation to the roles of NGOs operating rescue missions in the region.

A ship belonging to the German NGO Lifeline had to intervene to rescue 300-400 migrants aboard a rubber boat off the Libyan coast. Rescuers asked for help from the Italian coast guard or some merchant crossing in the area.

Matteo Salvini described the Lifeline as a Pseudo NGO and said that their ships will never touch Italian soil again.

In a facebook post, which you can see below, Salvini said “Did you do an act of strength not listening to the Italian and Libyan Coastal Guards? Well, you will have to take this load of human beings Holland, you will have to go around a bit ‘wider’.
