One person died and 16 got injured when a regional train hit a truck, which is used for special transport on the Turin-Ivrea railway line, at Caluso . The regional train 10027 has hit the truck which stopped on the tracks at the level crossing of the hamlet of Arè.
The impact, was very strong , caused the derailment of some wagons. The driver of the train died while 16 were injured, one of which is in a very serious condition.
A number of fire engines, the red cross and the carabinieri of Chivasso went on site. One of the wounded was extracted with difficulty from the sheets. At the accident site, the 118 emergency centre has equipped a camp hospital with tents.
The accident happened about 11:20 pm – according to an official Press Release. “The regional train 10027 hit a TIR that, after breaking through the barriers of a a regularly functioning level crossing, it was stationary on the railway station between the Rodallo and Caluso stations on the Chivasso-Aosta line. The train consisted of five wagons and a locomotive.
The three first wagons were derailed after the collision.
