Pope Francis sends Maltese Archbishop Charles Scicluna and Father Jordi Bertomeu on a new mission in Chile

Pope Francis is sending his two top sexual abuse investigators back to Chile to gather more information about the crisis that has hit the Catholic Church there, the Vatican said on Thursday.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta and Father Jordi Bertomeu, a Vatican official, will concentrate on the diocese of Osorno in southern Chile, seat of a bishop who has been most caught up in the scandal.… Be Informed

European Court of Human Rights concludes that Lithuania and Romania violated the European ban on torture

The European Court of Human Rights said on Thursday it had concluded that Lithuania and Romania hosted a CIA detention centres and allowed for Tortures.

Lithuania hosted this prison from February 2005 to March 2006 and that Abu Zubaydah had been held there.

Rajoy set to lose vote of confidence in Spain

According to various Spanish media reports the Basque Nationalist Party party announced that it will vote against Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy in a no-confidence motion. It’s a move that will almost certainly force him out of office.

Mr Rajoy’s centre-right People’s Party (PP) – in power since 2011 but part of a minority government after it failed to win successive elections outright in 2015 and 2016 – is at the centre of a cash-for-contracts scandal following the conviction last week of 29 people associated with the party of crimes relating to fraud, embezzlement and money-laundering.

Microsoft surpasses Google in the list of most valuable companies

Microsoft has surpassed Alphabet, the parent company of Google, in the market capitalisation for the first time in three years, becoming the third most valuable firm after Apple and Amazon globally.
